BricksLA 2018 MOC of Note Trophy

I built three of these “MOC of Note” trophies for BricksLA 2018, which is held annually in Pasadena, CA in the month of January. It was a perfect opportunity to build a LEGO “sports” trophy; I’ve had some pictures saved in my ideas folder for about 5 years so I’m glad I was able to follow through on it.

I also built MOC of Note trophies for BricksLA 2017 but I don’t think I have any pictures saved unfortunately.

Boba Fett Bust

I started this bust of Boba Fett, based off the Lowell Sphere, maybe 5 years ago, and kept it as a WIP in my bin of sand green plates. It wasn’t until just yesterday, when I purchased the Brickheadz Boba Fett and was able to use a good amount of the pieces to finish this model to my satisfaction. I’m REALLY happy with it! 🙂

Proto Man

Proto Man is the older “brother” of the titular character of the Mega Man video game series. I’ve always thought he was awesome with his shades, yellow scarf, and general aloofness. I’ve been wanting to create a large version of Proto Man for a while, and drew inspiration from Mike Nieves’ Proto Man and MOKO’s Masked Rider. I hope I honored their builds with this one.

Proto Man stands over 14″ tall.

Gumball Machine

Glad to have this off my list, and I’m really happy with the results! I initially got the drive to build this when the Series 6 Robot minifigure (with winder key) was released, but wasn’t happy with a rounded globe piece until LEGO released the spheres from Jurassic World. A free gumball to whoever guesses the amount of “gumballs” in the globe!

LEGO Rathtar

Rathtar

Hello everyone! I’ve been pretty quiet in the last few months. I just realized my last post on the LEGO Ideas MMPR Project was just over 6 months ago… WOW! Life’s kept me busy–not completely away from LEGO–just away from the internet.

Anyway, here’s my latest: a rathtar from The Force Awakens. I’ve always loved making brick-built Star Wars creatures, and The Force Awakens offers several cool new ones. It was a fun build, and I’ll admit it’s always fun to use the Lowell Sphere as a base for any build but also incorporate different elements like the tentacles. My favorite little feature is that it fits a minifigure!

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers LEGO Ideas Project – Support Achieved!

I’m delighted to say that the LEGO Ideas Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Project has received 10,000 supporters! A huge THANK YOU to everyone who’s supported this project. What does this mean for the project now? Now that the project has achieved the required 10,000 supporters, it has gone into the LEGO Review phase. Beginning in May and lasting for several months, this project (along with several others) will be evaluated by a LEGO review board to see if it can become a new LEGO Ideas set. If it does get picked, there will then be several more months of design and production before it hits shelves. Let’s hope that happens! 🙂

Regarding the possibility of Saban Brands signing a deal with the LEGO group while already having a deal with another brand (MEGA), Jason Bischoff (Director of Global Consumer Products for Saban Brands) put those fears to rest pretty early on with a post on RangerBoard.com, saying:

“It is a non-exclusive deal […] there is nothing about the MEGA deal that prevents us from exploring LEGO ideas.”

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers LEGO Ideas Project!

I’ve loved the concept of LEGO Ideas from its inception and have been impressed by every set released. I’ve been waiting for the right idea and the right time to try my hand at a project. As a lifelong LEGO builder (and Power Rangers fan!), and now the proud father of two Power Rangers fans, this set seemed like a no-brainer. Please help me make LEGO Power Rangers a reality; if not for me and my sons, than for everyone to celebrate the upcoming movie and/or the Power Rangers’ 25th anniversary in 2018! #LEGOMMPR

Subway Sandwich Meal

Last summer I was commissioned by Lay’s® to make a sculpture of a Subway® meal consisting of a 6″ sandwich, a fountain drink and a bag of Lay’s potato chips to celebrate the two companies’ 50 year partnership and to be unveiled at an event in Las Vegas, NV.

The sandwich measures 15″ x 36″ and 20″ tall.
The cup measures 16″ x 16″ and 34″ tall.
The bag of chips measures 6″ x 18″ and 28″ tall.
